Under the Texas Mistletoe

I know, I know. It’s barely autumn. And I have pumpkins sitting next to fall-colored mums on my porch. But Christmas is coming! And nothing will put you in the mood for the most wonderful time of the year like Karen Witemeyer’s newest release, Under the Texas Mistletoe.

Under the Texas Mistletoe is a collection of three novellas as well as Christmas themed devotionals, recipes and historical tidbits. As usual, the Christmas stories in this book are emotional, entertaining, and inspirational. If you enjoy her full length novels, you will adore these novellas.

This collection would make a perfect gift for the Christian book-nerd in your life, especially is they are historical fiction fans. The devotionals and recipes really add a special touch to this book. And the shorter novellas are easy to read in the busy holiday season. Don’t forget to add yourself to your gift list!

About the Book

Three Charming and Festive Holiday Novellas Spiced with Humor, Frontier Action, and Sweet Romance

In this 3-in-1 novella collection, bestselling author Karen Witemeyer presents the new story “A Texas Christmas Carol,” in which a town’s wealthy, Scrooge-like bachelor finds his world invaded by a woman set on earning his donation for helping the local poor, and by the penetrating questions of three mysterious visitors.

It also includes, for the first time in print, “An Archer Family Christmas.” When the Archer clan gathers for the Christmas holiday, an unexpected request for help leaves Cassandra Archer directly in the path of a dangerous outlaw. Desperate to protect the woman he loves, Jim Archer races to the rescue, only to find that Cassie’s life is not the only one in peril. It will take a Christmas miracle–and the entire Archer clan–to keep a second Archer Christmas from ending in disaster.

In previously published “Gift of the Heart,” a widow and her young daughter move to Hope Springs for a fresh start. But with no money to secure a home, Ruth must convince a wealthy resort owner to accept her heirloom brooch as collateral. Will the pin that brought love to three generations soften the heart of a wounded recluse and give Ruth a second chance at love as the holidays draw near?

Sprinkled throughout the collection, you’ll find a hope-filled Christmas devotion, Witemeyer holiday recipes, and fun facts about nineteenth-century Christmas celebrations!

My Thoughts

Under the Texas Mistletoe is a collection of Christmas novellas from Karen Witemeyer. But it is also so much more! It has Christmas-themed devotionals as well as recipes tucked in between the stories, and those special details make this collection a perfect Christmas gift for the Christian fiction lovers in your life (including yourself!).

The first novella is a new, unpublished story titled “A Texas Christmas Carol.” This story was absolutely charming. From the play on the original character names to the genuine dose of Christmas spirit infused within its pages, Evan and Felicity’s story is a must-read this Christmas season. I laughed out loud. I had tears in my eyes. And at the end, the prick of the true Christmas Spirit gave me goosebumps in the redemptive qualities of Evan’s story.

The second novella, “An Archer Family Christmas” has been on my TBR since it released in digital form last year. I love the Archer family from their full-length novels/novellas, so I was thrilled to be able to visit their family once again. In true Archer fashion, danger and threatens to steal their Christmas cheer, but the brothers join forces to fight against evil. I loved getting a deeper insight into Jim and Cassandra’s relationship and their struggles. It’s a beautiful story and one I highly recommend for all Archer brothers fans. My only complaint is that there can always be more Crockett. (wink)

And the third novella is a previously published novella “Gift of the Heart.” I read this story when it was first released and fell in love with Ruth and her daughter. It is a heartwarming story of second chances and thawing hearts. I loved every minute of it, and it is a perfect inclusion in this collection.

This collection is perfect for the holiday season as each story does not take long to read, and they bring such joy and Christmas spirit into your thoughts and heart. I would highly recommend Under the Texas Mistletoe for any fan of Christian historical fiction, and this collection is perfect for gift giving.

I was given a copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations of a positive review. All opinions are my own.

I hope you find all the Christmas cheer as you enjoy these stories!

Happy reading and God bless!
